GREEN SALON - In response to the growing desire for designers to take part in the environmental conversation, AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts) New Orleans and AIGA Center for Sustainable Design will once again host this year's sustainability exposition. The Green Salon will be free to the public and will begin at 10 a.m and end at 5 p.m. This afternoon-long event will feature three sessions pertaining to energy, materials and construction, and social justice. RECORDING OF AMERICA - In Herbert Halpern's early 20th century art collection, now on display at Diboll art gallery, "The Recording of America" is the legacy of the unsung artists and their hand in American pop culture. "This is the real America," Mr. Halpern said standing next to a Martin Lewis print; "Two A.M, Saturday Night," which first inspired Mr. Halpern to begin his collection of lithographs, aquatints, etchings, dry points, and silk-screens thirty years ago. "THE TROJAN WOMEN" - Albanian guest director Arben Kumbaro will close out the theater season with playwright Ellen McLaughlin's adaptation of the Euripides classic. The play depicts three women awaiting their enslavement following the fall of Troy. The women grapple with the horrors that surround them, while the plot reveals that our enemies - enslaved and dehumanized by war - might not be that different from us after all. BIOGRAPHIC: JUNIOR GRAPHIC DESIGN SHOW - Juniors will show off their design skills in their first show. Each designer will express his/her identity through innovative artwork including postcards, posters, publications, motion pieces and other forms. SENIOR GRAPHIC DESIGN SHOW - Finally Seniors get their final show! Check out the final projects of their college careers. Last year's show blew people away, so this year's students better step up to the plate. Monroe Library Diboll Art Gallery. April 20-26, 5 to 8 p.m.
